Last Year's IRS Hack

The number of people affected by last year's hack on the IRS keeps going up. Last May, the agency announced that tax data on 114,000 individuals was stolen in the cyberattacks on its "Get Transcript" web tool. In August, it said 220,000 more folks may have been victimized by the breach. Now it's raising the number even higher saying an additional 390,000 or so taxpayer accounts were inappropriately accessed. As before, the IRS will notify affected taxpayers, pay for credit monitoring and give victims the opportunity to request special identity protection ID numbers.
