Kiddie Tax
When doing tax planning this year, don't forget the kiddie tax for children with investment income such as capital gains, dividends or interest. If the child is under age 19 or is a full-time student under age 24 who pays less than half of his or her support, then the child's unearned income in excess of $2,100 for 2016 is taxed at the parent's higher income tax rate.
