Business Expenses

Expenses incurred before a business is started are not deductible. Although you can spend time and money, if you have no clients, service contracts or receipts, you are in the preparatory stage. But, the consolation is that once the business begins, firms can make an election to deduct $10,000 of the preopening costs and amortize the rest of 180 months.
